WORLD OF WARSHIPS - MULTICLUSTER SUPPORT



World of Warships is constantly changing, but not all changes are public-facing. We’re revealing something that’s way “under the hood” – World of Warships is transitioning to multicluster technology.

What Is It?
A multicluster is a distribution of a computing system consisting of a large number of servers, each separately processing various game elements (battles, players’ actions in the Port, payment systems). All of this is processed separately and does not compete for computing power, which in turn increases reliability and stability of the cluster.

How It Used to Work
Gaming services and processes were joined in one common cluster. Between them, all cluster power was distributed evenly — one system for all player processes.
Even distribution has its benefits, but struggles with reliability and load resistance. Different processes may compete for the resources of the individual server from the cluster. If there’s too heavy a load or a hardware failure, the server may crash, or bring down an entire cluster in some cases.

How It Will Work
After switching to multicluster technology, the architecture of the WoWS servers will consist of three levels:

Central cluster: Ties together all the lower-level processes and synchronizes them with the payment system, player accounts, etc.
Second level clusters: All the player’s actions in the Port (incl. team selection and Division creation) are processed
Third level battle clusters: These carry the battle, then pass the results onto the second level for processing

All three parts work independently; they do not compete for system power or interfere with one another, and that reduces the server load. But for players, the existence of separate clusters will be completely unnoticeable — players in the same battle or even in the same division could well be on the different clusters.

How You Will Benefit from It
The advantages of multicluster tech are flexibility and reliability. We can avoid a full reset of gaming clusters when carrying out maintenance work or dealing with equipment failures — the battle clusters could be gradually disabled after simply waiting for the completion of all ongoing battles, and players will automatically go to battles on the other clusters, not even noticing the transition.

Soon, you’ll be able to see all of these advantages with the release of Update 0.5.10!

WARGAMING WEDNESDAY – CHIEFTAIN TEACHES ARMOUR

WORLD OF TANKS - SLAVA MAKAROV Q&A

The following is from Vyacheslav "Slava" Makarov, who is now head of development for world of tanks, he answered some questions during a live steam on the current development plans Wargaming has and what future changes might come.

(Little late on this one, sorry about that. We may have forgot to hit the publish button!)

Q: What employee changes were there after the Rubicon update?
A: WOT development management was replaced. Currently, Slava Makarov acts as the Creative Director.

Q: What’s your attitude toward arty?
A: The vehicle type should be redone in its essence. This is being experimented with on the Sandbox server. We will not rush the introduction of changes from the Sandbox. None of the current changes will go live without improvements.

Q: Does the issue with super fast defeats exist?
A: Yes, and this is one of the main topics in testing on the Sandbox server.

Q: Will you educate players on how to play?
A:The task aimed at educating players, at least in terms of basic combat tactics, has started.

Q: How will you address the issue of repeating maps?
A: The issue with maps is a big one. It should be investigated and analyzed. Old maps may be removed or overhauled. The department that is currently making maps are doing their job really well.

For the new matchmaker to work correctly, Tier X light tanks are required. These vehicles are being worked on really hard.

Q: How will you address the issue of premium shells purchasable with credits?
A: It is imperative that this situation is addressed, but the problem mainly originates from the inflation of the overall penetration and excessive visibility ranges, rather than from premium shells themselves. This is the cause that we will try to fix.

Q: Will the new balance be ready by New Year’s?
A: Too soon to tell just yet. We are actively working on it. We’re looking for good solutions and performing fine-tuning. We may test some new mechanics using the old balance.

Q: What to do with slow tanks?
A: There was a suggestion that such vehicles should be made faster.

Q: What is the current role of Michael Jivetc on the project?
A: Michael currently helps to figure out the condition of the project. He will not play any crucial role in the project in the future.

Q: Will the +/-25% scatter in penetration and shell damage change?
A: We can return to discussing this point after all the questions with engagement distance are solved on the Sandbox server.

Q: What will be done to personal missions?
A: Personal missions will be reviewed and those that are not working will be fixed. Slava thinks that the idea of personal missions in itself  is good. Implementation of some of them could be better and this is what he is going to focus on.

Slava believes that this was the right thing to nerf the T-22 med. He was the originator of the idea. The vehicle was conceived for motivating players to play in the new Rampage mode. This is a bad idea, to motivate players through the reward in form of an overpowered vehicle.

Q: Slava, what do you think about the Master of Orion release?
A: It is a normal 4X game that is suited for massive audience.

Q: Slava, tell a bit about Tanks 2.0?
A: We should first address all the affairs with the current version, and only then switch to the new one.

Q: Would you introduce +/-1 battle level rules?
A: The new matchmaker may help to solve the problem with comfort of play. The new matchmaker is planned to have a restriction on creating Platoons consisting of SPGs, as well as a more defined tier distribution pyramid within a team.

FRAUD ON SOCIAL NETWORKS



Dear players, it has recently become increasingly widespread that fraud in the various social media is taking place. The fraudsters, hide behind the names and trademarks of well-known brands and projects, using a variety of methods to deceive and fool the most gullible users.

Unfortunately, there are cases of account thefts from players or, more often, cases of extortion of various sums of money. Recently, we were able to detect 500 false projects on social networks, which we managed to get close.

In most cases, the fraud is committed is in the following ways:

On a social networks they create a group / community, accompanied by pictures and graphics, etc. from the official website's of Wargaming,
   
This group / community consciously assigns a false name, eg. 'Cheats and codes for World of Tanks, "Boost accounts in World of Tanks, "" Best bot for World of Tanks ", etc.
   
Quite often there are stories of the following type: "stolen from Wargaming special program to generate bonus codes", etc.,
   
Sooner or later comes to pricing service groups / communities: sale bonus codes, sales accounts, boost game account, etc., and a link to the e-wallet,
  
To create their own brand and reputation, supposedly attracted real users who artificially leave positive comments: "The bonus code actually works!" etc ..

Often in such groups, they encourage users to arrange competitions and lotteries.

Once a player finds that he has been cheated and bonus code does not work, Support Department will consider the request, but only in order to combat fraud. The company did not return the money that the player has lost as a result of excessive trust in the seller and his own naivete.

Important: The bonus codes can only be obtained directly from Wargaming or can be obtained from the hands of the direct representative of the company, by participating in competitions within the community, as well as from partners with Wargaming.

WORLD OF TANKS - MICRO PATCH


A minor patch for version 9.15.1 is scheduled for 11th August. It will fix the interface and other bugs that surfaced after the update. Thanks to the feedback received from players, the development team has found out and fixed the disclosed problems in short terms.

Important! After the release of the micropatch, the file structure of the game client will be changed. As a result, third-party modifications for version 9.15.1 will not work for some time. In order to avoid technical problems, the game client will change the main folder for modifications. It is strongly recommended that players refrain from installing mods and instead wait for the most updated versions of those mods, which will be adapted to the current version of the client

Fixed a bug where markers on the minimap were larger than Action Script 2 (9.15), after going to the Action Script 3 (9.15.1)

Fixed problem with highlighting several sectors at a time when the player selected several squares at a rapid pace,

Fixed a bug that caused Reserves Battle (air strikes and artillery fire) activated in skirmishes and battles the fortress were sent back to the Fortress,

Fixed a bug that caused the player being in spectator mode (spectator) before the beginning of the battle was in the MS-1

Fixed a bug where historical battles statistics were not available in the statistics tab,

Fixed a bug in the IGR (In Game Results), where the player with a long nick in the battle could result in the display of the entire list in the wrong way.

Issues faced when using Third-Party Modifications
In most cases, such problems can be solved by deleting the mods. However, sometimes, a clean reinstall of the game is needed.There are many players who use different client mods. We would like to remind you that these modifications are not created by Wargaming, but rather by third-party developers and users. So, whenever there are official World of Tanks updates, conflicts can occur if your game client has modified files installed. Examples of such issues include decreased game performance, freezes, crashes, missing textures, and more.

Balanced Divisions
No more "fail Divisions": The maximum difference between the Tiers of ships in a Division is now limited to one.

Colour blind Mode
We have added a mode that supports adaptation of the colour palette for players with the corresponding colour-vision deficiencies. To enable this mode, select the suitable option via the Settings screen. The intensity of the corresponding effect can be customised.

Audio
As part of the update 0.5.10 Public Test , you will have the chance to check out the many sound improvements that are being brought into the game with the latest update. Enemy detection messages, revamped sounds for bomb explosions and fires, and many other changes feature in this update.

Player's Profile
Thanks to your feedback, the Player's Profile now has statistics for the individual ships. It also includes the following data:

Total, average and highest damage (for a single battle) that allies caused to enemies spotted by the player.
Total, average and highest number of enemy ships spotted by the player.
Participation in capturing and defending key areas calculated as a percentage ratio (ratio of the points earned by the player to the points earned by the rest of the team).
Total, average and highest potential damage per battle.

Post-Battle Statistics
The post-battle statistics screen now includes new data that helps when evaluating a player's performance, namely:

Damage the allies caused to enemies spotted by the player.
Number of fires the allies caused to enemies spotted by the player.
Potential maximum damage from shells, bombs and torpedoes that hit the player's ship and potential damage from shells, bombs and torpedoes that were fired/launched by the enemy at the player's ship but did not hit it.
Number of enemy ships, squadrons and torpedoes spotted by the player
Capture and defence points.

"Please note that the above listed points about the post-battle statistics do not have any impact on the in-game economy yet. Currently this information is available only for players’ visibility, so that they can evaluate their combat efficiency more precisely. Please, provide your feedback! After analysing it, along with the gathered statistics, this data is planned to be integrated into the in-game economy in future updates, which will be announced at a later stage."

AMX M4 1949 COMING SOON?

With World of Tanks turning 6 years old, rumours on the Russian server say that a new premium tank will be available soon to buy in the store. Some sources say it will be the AMX M4 1949, the French Tier VIII Heavy Tank, while others say it will be the Rheinmetall Skorpion G. The Rheinmetall already has a release date scheduled for the 18th of August, so there might be a possibility of this tank appearing soon as well, if rumours turn out to be true.

SUPERTEST - LIGHT TANK CHANGES



This weekend will begin the Supertest to revolutionize light tanks. The Supertest will take place gradually, starting with low-tiers and ending with high-tiers. The first of these changes will begin with the tier 3 and 4 light tanks;

M5A1 Stuart, Pz.Kpfw. II Luchs, Pz.Kpfw. I Ausf. C., Stuart M3, M5 Stuart, BT-7 and A-20.

These tanks will receive small changes in specifications and characteristics, that will help them adapt to their new role. Light tanks of  tiers 1 and 2 will remain unchanged. As we progress, we will share information with you on a regular basis. The first details will be released next week.

G.W. E 100 REPLACEMENT

Insider has told us that soon Wargaming will replace GW E 100, after changing the mechanics of artillery. You do not need a lot of guessing, the tank is simply a figment of Wargamings imagination - will most likely be replaced by Grille IIRC. The developers will decide which mortar it gets: it will be 305 mm or 420 mm.

NEW SUPERTEST MAP

Very little information is available at this time, but a new prototype map has appeared on the supertest server. New technologies are being tested on it and it may appear ingame sometime in the future.

WGL GOLD SERIES - CAMOUFLAGE

Today marks the start of a new season, of the World Gaming League (WGL). These exclusive camouflage will be used during the transmission of the WGL Gold Series. The 12 teams participating are:

Arcade eSports, Brain Storm, Carpe Diem, Hellraisers, IMPACT Gaming, Natus Vincere, Nashorn, NextPlease, Not So Serious, NS-NS, Tornado.Rox and Weplay.

KV4 KERSLAVSKIY - CLAN WARS REWARD


The Russian Tier VIII Heavy Tank - KV4 Kreslavskiy official HD pictures. On the Russian server from August 18 to September 1, there will be a new Clan Wars event called Rise of the Titans, there will be 3 reward tanks available.

Chieftain/T95 – British Tier VIII MT
IS-5 – Soviet Tier VIII HT
KV4 Kreslavskiy – Soviet Tier VIII HT

The European and American servers should be getting the even around the same time or possibly in the future. To obtain these tanks you will have to be in a clan and participate in the event.
